We made it to Almaty

We are here in Almaty and Emerson did great on the plane. He slept the whole way! I am going to have to keep this very short as I am almost out of time. To all of those of you who are trying to reach us here, we unfortunately do not have a working phone. We are doing our best to get this taken care of ASAP through e-mail but we will just have to wait and see how it works out. In the mean time we have a mellow day today of playing with our beautiful baby boy, and resting up. Tomorrow we will get his medical exam, then on the weekend we are hoping to go to the open market and the Mountains! Monday and Tuesday we will be doing all of the nessesary paperwork at the Embassy to get his US citizenship documents. Keep those comments coming as they are the highlight of our day.

To all of my students, Have a Great Summer!!!!

Hmm, well, if we didn't already have a nickname for Emerson, I think we'd have to call him Baby Bug. The mountains, huh? Amazing! How high are they? How will you get there?

Here in Bham, Aunt Brenda is staying with us, which is lovely. She and my friend Erica, out in California, got to talk for a long time last night, which was very encouraging, and informative, for her. Hooray!

Tomorrow I head to Mississippi for a retreat at Magnolia Village. I am so looking forward to it.

Here's hoping you get to stay in the house, and that all goes well in Almaty. Enjoy each moment there. These moments are just as important, beautiful, and enjoyable as any of the moments you may be looking foward to. Savor each one of them.

Love you,
Aunt Sharron

Sounds great. One day closer to home. We are zipping down to Beaverton for the older grand daughters' last choir concert of the year. We haven't been able to take in any this year so are anxious to see how they are doing. Enjoy your weekend. I am not surptised Emerson did well on the plane. It was our experience that they do better flying at night. You are doing great, like we knew you would.
Love,
Jim and Beth

More new opportunities for pictures, I hope you have a GIANT memory card for the digital!!! So, any chance of MORE 'red eye' flights, to Germany, and beyond...Here's hoping seats are reserved on that flight on the 13th. Have a FUN weekend, we're still socked in very coldie here, fires in the wood stoves at night!
Blessings!
Ms. G.

Oops, sorry, I meant, if we didn't already call Emerson Baby Bug we'd have to call him "Wonder Baby." It was a little early when I wrote that last comment, which made no sense whatsoever!!

I guess it didn't take long for the First Hike to occur... you've been official only a few days now, and you're already planning a trip to expose him to nature. It's great knowing he'll grow to appreciate it as much as you both do.

I'd be willing to bet Emerson will be on more hikes before he's ONE than many people take their whole lives.

Finally, I have to concur with Ms. G...You better have a big memory card on your camera - We want PICTURES!

Hope everything goes well at the Embassy. I'm sure it will; Government offices are always so quick and easy to work with. ;-) Either way...you're almost at the finish line!

Love always,
Jeff and Christy

Oh I am SO excited for you three! I hope you are taking ALOT of pictures so we can see even more of your adventure when you get home. Give little Emerson a big hug and kiss from us. Emerson and Kelsey will have some things in common. Both being born in another country, and having lots of paperwork from Embassy's! Oh, and passports with the pictures taken very very young! (Kelsey was 2 weeks old in her first one!)
Love to you all

John and Karon,

First leg of your trip home with Emerson completed like pros! ~sighs of relief~ Great job!!

Just keep thinking of how nice it'll be to be fully recovered from the trip abroad and settled into your new routine. "Eyes on the prize" as Kendall always says and since you have your first "prize" (Emerson), now you can set them on another one (getting home). :~)

We are all looking forward to your return.

Love to you all,

Amy and Kendall
