Welcome to Dayville Emerson

Last night a few friends hosted a community pot luck welcoming Emerson to town. It was great to see so many people come out and just to share our adventures in Kazakhstan with them. Emerson was a trooper and loved meeting all the new people. He has taken to "standing" with us holding him and he loves this new perspective on life. Our friends also did a money tree for us at the pot luck and much to our excitment there was enough there for us to order a nice three wheel stoller. Thank you everyone!

Money trees are good!

Those pictures are from Kazakstan, though, right?

Glad y'all are having fun.

Love,

Oh Auntie Sharron, I GOT TO hold that little guy's hand today!!!! (Sunday). He is SO much cuter in person, and such a good baby, not a crybaby, smiles and "talks"...tiny for almost 9 mos. but WAYYYYYYYYY worth all the Decker family has done to bring home the newest American citizen in Grant County! Guess you'll just have to WAIT a month or so!! (grin)...

Dear Deckers,

My wife and I will be traveling to Kaz in a few months to adopt a child. We have been reading blogs of people who have recently (or currently) gone through the adoption process.

Today I was reading a blog about a couple who is currently in Kaz suffering through some legal issues and a jeopardized adoption due to circumstances concerning their observance at a Christian church.

I was worried about their issues with the "religion police" and further read their blog for more information about the circumstances. While reading their blog, they had mentioned spending some time with you, and I recognized your names from reading your own published story.

My wife and I are members of a religion which would be considered a minority in Kaz, and I am curious and somewhat fearful about our trip after reading about these people's experience.

Since these blogs are public domain, I don't wish to discuss specifics here, but I would wish to share a brief discussion via email...I'm guessing this particular couple was behaving in a blatantly demonstrative or evangelical way. If not, I am a bit concerned about religious persecution in the area. Perhaps you can share your opinion via email?

Thanks,
Hilton (and Suzanne)
